In Ancona on the 16th of May 2014 the Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche launched "Gra Nil", the new 26m (86ft) expedition yacht in steel and aluminium built by Cantiere delle Marche and designed by Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec.

She is the fifth launch in their Darwin Class by the shipyard since 2011. By August 2014 Cantiere delle Marche will have delivered the first two explorer yachts of the new line "CdM Nauta Air", thats designed by Mario Pedol and Massimo Gino of Nauta Yacht Design. The Nauta Air 86 and Nauta Air 90 will be officially presented during the up coming Boat Shows in 2014.

Vasco Buonpensiere sales director comments: "This is a very important year for CdM. This is the fifth delivery from the beginning and comes after two signed contracts, so this is a wonderful way to celebrate CdM success and dynamism".

Ennio Cecchini CEO, adds: "I personally experienced this long and exciting process that has brought us this success: I think the winning formula has been the full involvement of the client since the beginning, and I would like to thank him from all of us. It will be a very special Darwin Class indeed and we are all looking forward to seeing it cruising the Oceans!".

Gra Nil totally matches the Darwin Classes technical features, designed and engineered by Hydro Tec/Sergio Cutolo: the extra thick steel plates, the treatment systems for bilge, black and grey water used also on commercial ships, two independent rudders. The client had the opportunity to customise both the tecnical specifications and Gra Nil's interior design during the contract's negotiation. Architect Pierluigi Floris created stylish and refined spaces that can host all of the client's family collection of contemporary art

All the lower deck is very bright thanks to the portholes which have been doubled up compared to the ones of the standard Darwin Class 86. The sky lounge on the upper deck is a wide space dedicated to the entertainment, with stereo systems, rollaway tv and other features for the guests entertainment.

We will bring you an update on the two new Nauta Air 86 and Nauta Air 90 as soon as we hear from the shipyard.

Moonen Sell First In New Caribbean Series

The new Moonen Caribbean series was introduced last month, May 2014 and it offers six different designs ranging from 26m (85ft) to 38m (125ft). They are all named after islands in the Caribbean, showing it could be a place where they could be spending quite a bit of their time when orders come and launching starts.

Martinique, the new project that's just been sold in the Caribbean series could be headed to the warm tropical waters when she is launched in 2016, with her construction is due to start shortly at the Moonen shipyard. She measures 36m (120ft) and is an innovation for the yachting industry as she will have a hull built of high tensile steel. Combined with Moonen's "enhanced length principle" (ELP) hull design, this will allow for an impressive turn of speed, low fuel consumption and high comfort levels for her owner.

The advantage of using high tensile steel is that the construction can be made significantly lighter than normal steel with the same strength, resulting in a lighter boat that retains the benefits of steel. This lighter construction allows for a higher speed than one would expect from a full displacement yacht of this size.

Her modern exterior design has sharp lines, vertical windows and a noticeable knuckle in the bow giving her a bold yet sleek appearance. The master suite is on the main deck and has amazing panoramic views out over the ocean. Other features will include a spacious country kitchen styled galley, a large saloon and outside space on the wheelhouse deck, a large swimming platform and an engine room designed for easy maintenance.

Below are the other megayachts in the Caribbean series

After delivering three Codecasa 65's between 2008 - 2010, Codecasa have just reveled that they will be starting their 4th 65 project.

"The new Codecasa 65 is a sober and elegant Yacht that soon conveys a feeling of solidity without appearing too rigorous. Its intentionally 'masculine' profile, balanced between classic and trendy lines, captivates thanks to a natural and thoughtful synthesis of the Codecasa nautical tradition with the classic lines evolution, achieving the new classic style by subtraction" explained Domenico Gozzani, Codecasa Shipyards Exterior Stylist.

She will have large interior volumes and extremely clean exterior lines which are seen throughout her four decks. The lower deck is made up of four guest cabins, with the main deck entirely devoted to the relaxation of guests and owners thanks to the huge saloon and the adjacent dining room. The upper deck is exclusively dedicated to the owner, which includes a second saloon and a large owner's suite with a VIP cabin and a direct access to a very private external living area forward.

More news to follow as the project gets underway at the yard.

    ISA Launch 43m Silver Wind

On the 12th of June ISA Yachts launched and christened their newest megayacht the 43m (141ft) "Silver Wind". She looks like something straight off the set of a James Bond movie with her sharp angled sliver hull.

Her sharp and bold exterior design is the work of Andrea Vallicelli who gave her that striking look. She has 5 cabins that can accommodate 10 guests, who can enjoy relaxing moments at anchor on the yacht while making use of her extensive outdoor spaces. Other features include huge sundeck and a cosy beach area with a large swimming platform.

She has quite a unique hybrid propulsion system developed by Siemens and ISA Yachts, she can both run at the maximum speed of 32kts and a cruising speed of 26kts with a "traditional" propulsion system consisting of two marine diesel engines driving two Rolls-Royce Kamewa waterjets through reduction gear boxes, and navigate at low speed of 8kts. With two main engines off, the two waterjets are powered by the two electric motors connected to the gearbox. The two diesel generators also supply power to the electric users. At electric mode, the total fuel consumption is 90 l/h for a range of 2,600nm, very important for moving her without guests onboard, as consumption goes from 55 l/nm at max yacht speed to 11 l/nm with electric mode on, a great piece of engineering design.

She is scheduled for delivery in July.

Large windows stretch across the entire length of the saloon in the sky lounge creating a light and airy place for guests to relax. The saloon also includes a bar and home cinema system.

The  owner's master suite includes an en-suite bathroom with a central bathtub and a pale travertine marble floor, a large private study and walk-in wardrobe. CDM Launch Pocket Explorer "YOLO"

In Ancona on June 19th, last Saturday the Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche launched "YOLO", a new 26m (86ft) pocket explorer in alluminium built by Cantiere delle Marche and designed by Mario Pedol and Massimo Gino of Nauta Design.

She is the first megayacht in the new CdM Nauta Air line. These explorer yachts offer the perfect blend of modern style and the same sturdy as Cantiere delle Marche’s Darwin Class Explorer yachts, that have already taken the pocket explorer market by storm.

Vasco Buonpensiere, Director of Sales and Marketing and partner at CdM, had these words at the launching: "Thanks to the new Nauta Air 86 project, Cantiere delle Marche has yet again shown that we are a shipyard that pays close attention to the market and knows how to anticipate its needs. We noticed that a large group of owners was looking for motor yachts that are different from the typical white-hulled planing boat with a flying bridge. They wanted an energy efficient boat that has larger interior volumes, something fully customizable and with sturdy metal construction. This without having to go for a large, three-bridge displacement yacht that can be heavy in more ways than one. Cantiere delle Marche decided to create the Nauta Air 86 line to meet their needs. This line has the essential superyacht characteristics of ample, fully customizable spaces united with energy efficient autonomy and freedom of use with limited crew. The CdM Nauta Air line is designed to meet the needs of experienced yachtsmen who want the security and comfort of a large metal-hulled displacement yacht without losing the flexibility and the ease of use of a planing yacht. The project has been an immediate success. Several yachts have been sold even before the launch of the first yacht in the series and I want to thank Nauta Design for their perfect interpretation of our brief. Their designs for the Air line fully meet our goal for yachts with strong, direct character combined with simple and elegant lines".

Her interior and exterior spaces are kept in direct visual contact thanks to use of transparent glass in both windows and doors. The galley on the main deck has been designed to be accessible both from indoors and out and the central main salon is divided into conversation, relaxation and dining areas.

Her owner was able to define, together with the shipyard and the designers, the interior layout. The 60 sqm panoramic fly bridge, with a sun area and spacious al fresco lounge, was specifically designed for easy outdoor living. A dedicated stairway leads from the main deck to the owner's suite for total privacy and a separate entrance leads to the lower deck and guest cabins.

Architect. Mario Pedol commented, "We feel that the unique aspect of life aboard a yacht lies in the opportunity it gives you to immerge yourself totally in the natural environment around you. When we sat down to design the CdM Nauta Air we always kept one priority in mind: that of bringing the outside world in. To do this we used wide areas of glass and created architectural spaces where the indoors could communicate in harmony with the outdoors. By thinking of the yacht as one continuous space we created a new concept of on board living, especially on the main and upper decks. CdM Nauta Air yachts are motor yachts that stand out thanks to their autonomy, their on board safety and their ample living spaces. All this while retaining a solid, robust, seaworthy core that inspires confidence".

Heesen Yachts have announced that their first 45m (148ft) fly bridge megayacht YN 17145 "Project Necto" has been sold to a yacht connoisseur with a true passion for speed and power.

She is a powerful sportster and the largest built by a Northern European shipyard to date. She will be capable of an impressive 30kts thanks to her well engineered all aluminium semi-displacement hull and twin MTU 16V 4000 M73L engines. Speed and power combined with the interior luxury and comfort are the characteristics of this semi-displacement megayacht that will have a range of 2.750nm at 12kts.

Frank Laupman of Omega Architects has created her exterior lines. He has introduced a piece of innovation excellence by introducing the "knuckle", a design element that interrupts the line of the raked bow and gives her a much sharper and narrower bow that adds an aggressive look.

Her interior is by Italian designer Cristiano Gatto who is currently working on his third project with the Dutch shipyard. The owners chose a contemporary yet cosy design for the interior of their 45m sportster. Ten guests will be accommodated in five cabins, with the full beam master suite located on the main deck and the four guest cabins two twins and two doubles on the lower deck.

The owners dedicated special attention to the outdoor areas of their new megayacht, that includes an extremely spacious sundeck. The 84 sqm sundeck is completely free from fixed furniture to give the space for guests to carry out their morning exercise. It is an unusual and particularly remarkable design feature on a megayacht of this size.

She is due to be delivered to her owners after intensive sea trials in the North Sea in January 2016.
